After breakfast, travel along the Mediterranean Coast for a visit to Caesarea Maritima. Here, visit the famous Roman theater, harbor and aqueduct. Next, journey to Mount Carmel, the site of Elijah’s confrontation with the prophets of Baal. Continue onto Megiddo, the city that dominated this strategic trade route from Egypt to Mesopotamia. Explore the extensive excavations including Ahab’s stables, a grain silo, and an ancient underground water system. Drive by Arbel Cliff on the way to our hotel along the Sea of Galilee to enjoy dinner and overnight.

Drive north on an ancient trade route to Hazor to see the remains of a Canaanite palace. Continue to Dan for a nature walk and a visit to the high place where Jeroboam, son of Nebat, set up a golden calf. Stop at nearby Caesarea Philippi (Banias), where Peter confessed his recognition of Jesus as the Christ. See Banias Falls on the Hermon River, a short distance from Caesarea Philippi. After lunch, visit the nearby Nimrod Fortress, in northern Golan, high above Banias, to see the remains of Crusader’s fortress. Stop at Mt. Bental and enjoy the great views of the surrounding region from this high point while learning the importance of this region in the 1967 war. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Begin our day at Migdal, believed to be the hometown of Mary Magdalene. Continue to Tabgha to view the mosaics in the Church of the Loaves and Fishes and then to the Mount of Beatitudes, taking time for meditation on the life of Jesus. Visit Capernaum, revealing remains of a synagogue and the possible location of Peter’s house. Stop at Chorazin and Bethsaida, both with impressive excavations and archaeological finds relevant to Israel’s history. Enjoy lunch along the Sea of Galilee and enjoy a quick stop at the Jordan River and an afternoon sail on the Sea of Galilee. After stopping to view the Jesus Boat, return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Drive to Sepphoris this morning, the Roman capital during the life of Christ, and a rich archaeological site with beautiful mosaics. Continue to Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus, to stand on Mount Precipice for an excellent view of Mount Tabor, the Hill of Moreh and the Jezreel Valley. Continue to the Foot of Mount Gilboa to Ein Harod, where the Lord thinned out the army of Gideon. Stop at Gan Hashalosha, a park and picnic area, for a possible swim in the warm pools. Drive along the Jordan River, stopping at Beit Shean, where the Philistines fastened the bodies of Saul and his sons to the wall of the city. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast travel through the Jordan Valley to Qasr al Yahud, the traditional site of, Jesus’ baptism. Continue to Jericho to visit the tel of this oldest city and view the traditional mountain of Jesus’ temptation. Continue to Qumran to see where the largest quantities of the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Continue to En Gedi, the area where David hid from King Saul. After lunch, arrive at Masada and take a cable car to the top of Herod’s mountain fortress and last stronghold of the Jewish Zealots in their revolt against Rome. Explore the ruins and enjoy the spectacular view of the surrounding area. Enjoy dinner and overnight at our hotel on the Dead Sea.

Begin our day at Tel Arad to see excavations of a temple with a sacrificial altar modeled after the one found in the book of Exodus. Journey on to the Israelite city of Beersheva and explore the OT site of Maresha. Continue to Lachish, an important city because of its farmland, water supply and strategic location. Stop for a view of the Elah Valley, where David slew Goliath and continue to Beth Shemesh, where the Ark of the Covenant was returned to the Israelites after being taken by the Philistines. To conclude our day, Journey up to the Holy City of Jerusalem, stopping for an overview of the city from Mount Scopus. Enjoy dinner and overnight at our hotel in Jerusalem.

Begin the day walking from the top of the Mount of Olives to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed before His betrayal and arrest. On the way, visit Dominus Flevit, the traditional place where Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Next, visit the Herodion, one of Herod’s many lavish homes and the location of his tomb, sarcophagus and mausoleum. Continue to Bethlehem, with a stop at the Shepherds’ Fields and a visit to the Church of the Nativity, built over the site believed to be the place of Jesus’ birth. Enjoy lunch and shopping before returning to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Start in the City of David to explore the ancient water system and underground tunnels used during the reign of Hezekiah to bring water from one side of the city to the other and stopping for a visit to the Pools of Siloam. Enter the Old City to see the Western Wall, Judaism’s holiest site. Explore the Southern Steps of the Temple Mount and visit the Ophel Excavations. Walk through the Western Wall Tunnel, where additional portions of the wall, as well as other structures beneath it, have been excavated. Overnight in Jerusalem.

Returning to the Old City, ascend the traditional site of the ancient Temple Mount, now home to the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Exiting from the Mount, visit Saint Anne’s Church and the Pools of Bethesda, while following the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Continue through the Old City Market to the Tower of David Museum of the History of Jerusalem, located near the Jaffa Gate. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Visit the Israel Museum and Shrine of the Book to see the Qumran Scrolls and learn of their importance for biblical studies. Visit a model of the city of Jerusalem during the Second Temple Period. Next, visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. The remainder of the afternoon is free for shopping or exploring the city on your own. Enjoy a special farewell dinner together at the David Citadel Hotel.

Begin the day on Mount Herzl, burial place of most of Israel’s presidents, prime ministers and chairs of the Knesset. Visit the Bible Lands Museum, the only interactive museum in the world where the civilizations of the Ancient Near East from the dawn of civilization through the early Christian era are brought to life. Continue on to the Garden Tomb, considered by some Christians to be the site of the burial and resurrection of Jesus. It is an excellent place to reflect on all that has been encountered on this journey. After an early dinner, depart for Ben Gurion Airport to begin our journey back to the U.S.
